A Week From Camp

We are a week from Gasshuku 2013. Sunday afternoon there was an extra practice for a student that will be testing next week. Polishing the weapons katas, looking at optional techniques that might be called by the testing board, and something I had not seen before. Techniques called for nage without an uke.

It requires nage to imagine the attack and shadow step through the technique. A means to help prepare to respond to techniques as they are called so that as uke moves, nage is already responding.

There is always something new to learn.
