I only have the outline of the story, but here's what I think I heard.
Years ago, before I started, there was a student in our dojo named Dusty. Dusty's mother is an artist and she did a piece for Sensei Suenaka. At that time, Dusty promised that his mother would create something for Shihan Sam. Time passed, life intervened, Dusty moved out of the area and was no longer in a place and situation where he could practice Aikido.
Last week, Dusty contacted Shihan Sam asking if they could get together, maybe have lunch, because Dusty had something he wanted to give Shihan Sam. This is what he had brought. It's approximately 24" by 36" and is now hanging prominently in our dojo.
