Here, in different variations from different styles, tenchi-nage on YouTube.
We worked on this technique last night. We normally practice this in such a way that uke takes a back fall. Near the end of class, Shihan demonstrated tenchi-nage where power is developed with a tight hip turn as the upper hand cuts back to the one-point. The closest example of this in the video starts at 0:58. This is a very different outcome, the only way uke can safely fall is to sutemi, if uke does not know how to respond, a hard and potentially injurious fall is inevitable.
Once again, a refinement taught, a slight adjustment that increases power and effectiveness.
